Having joined Empower in June 2004, Edgar's primary role is to establish from start-up, develop, and direct the contract, procurement and legal functions of this new, large and complex district cooling company with a view to creating a world class, profitable and environmentally friendly organisation. To meet this objective, Edgar's principal responsibilities, include but are not limited to the following;
Leading and setting commercial standards in a new and embryonic industry, and in doing so contribute to the growth and development of the industry at large;
Ensuring future revenues are secured and protected through the establishment, development and negotiation of effective customer agreements for district cooling services for a minimum of a 25 year period;
Ensuring that 'best value' is derived for shareholders by using best practices to effectively and efficiently invest the organisation's capital in establishing and developing district cooling infrastructure within extremely challenging time-scales and immature industry conditions. Manage the sustainable growth of the organisation through the effective establishment and negotiation of related new ventures, acquisitions and mergers.
Prior to joining Empower, Edgar's previous roles have been to establish and develop commercial and project management departments in numerous high profile start-up companies. He has had extensive previous experience in responsible positions in consulting (Shire Consultancy, Mouchel International), contracting (Laing UK, Al Owaidah General Contracting) and client organisations (Hertfordshire County Council and numerous Dubai Holding and Sheikh Mohammed entities) in the civil engineering, utilities and building industries, both in the UK and Middle East.
Edgar graduated in Civil Engineering from the prestigious Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, University of London and is chartered from the Institution of Civil Engineers. In addition, he has professional qualifications in Contract Law and Administration from the same institution.
