Dubai, UAE, 27th June 2012: Emirates Central Cooling Corporation (Empower), the leading district cooling service provider in the Gulf region, is participating in the 103rd Annual Conference & Trade show of International District Energy Association (IDEA), which will be held in Chicago, USA, from 29 June to 2 July, 2012.
Mr. Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower, will lead the Empower delegation which will include Mr. Tariq Al Yasi, Chief Operations & Maintenance Officer, Mr. Ramesh Ramadurai, Chief Financial Officer and Mr. Mohamed Kahoor, Director of Business Support Services.
Bin Shafar said: “This is our eighth participation in the IDEA Annual Conference. We look at this event as a platform to view new practices in the district cooling industry. We are proud to say that the UAE has built a solid and modernised districting cooling infrastructure, surpassing many advanced countries.”
Bin Shafar commended the professionalism of the organisers of the conference that is being held under the theme ‘Cooler, Cleaner Cities’.
He added: “The IDEA conference is very relevant to Empower. Our client-map is spread along planned residential and commercial communities of Dubai that have already been enjoying the benefits of district cooling technology through Empower services. The IDEA conference and trade show will be the best opportunity for Empower to share the experiences in Community District Cooling services.”

This is expected to exceed 25% by 2020, covering Hospitality, Residential, Commercial and sports buildings as major end-users. A proper exposure to the latest technology in this field at the prestigious international conference will definitely help boosting district cooling in the region.”
The conference is being held at a time the entire world looks at climate change as a big threat, which highlights the critical role district cooling is playing conserving natural resources and saving money of end-users.
IDEA is a non-profit trade association that annually hosts the conference and trade show to showcase latest technologies and equipment in the district energy industry. The event give attendees - including energy professionals, consultancies, government agencies and system developers - the opportunity to learn more about district cooling from a global perspective and meet with a variety of vendors and suppliers.
