Empower CEO to showcase company’s successful utilisation of treated waste water to save 50% of fresh water used in its plants
Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower, the largest district cooling service provider in the region, will lead a delegation to the annual meeting of the US-based International District Energy Association (IDEA) in Miami, Florida, from June 2-6, 2013.
Held under the theme "Building on Efficiency, Delivering Value", the conference will bring together district cooling and combined heat and power professionals from across North America, Europe and Asia to discuss the latest industry developments.
The conference program will include a series of panel discussions, technical presentations and question-and-answer sessions focused on district cooling, thermal storage and environmentally friendly building design.
Bin Shafar will participate in a panel discussion focusing on common challenges facing district cooling providers in the Middle East, while sharing insights and best practices for optimising energy efficiency and product reliability.
The Empower team will also present a case study on utilising treated waste water to reduce the use of fresh water by half, based on the recent conversion of its plants from requiring conventional sources to using recycled water from Dubai Municipality.
“With scorching year-round temperatures and increasing demand for precious resources, the experiences gained and the best practices identified in the Middle East are valuable lessons for our industry peers across the globe,” said Bin Shafar. “We look forward to participating in this important international conference, which is an integral hub for networking and sharing information.”
Empower, which is a joint venture between DEWA and Dubai Technology & Media Free Zone, currently provides district cooling services at several prominent developments in Dubai, including Dubai International Financial Centre, Dubai Healthcare City, Business Bay, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Al Khail Gate and Ghuroob Mirdif.
