Empower, the leading district cooling provider in the Middle East, has announced that it is supporting Dubai’s pioneering State of Energy report which was released yesterday to coincide with World Energy Day.
The State of Energy report will is issued by the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy. The report is intended to highlight the development milestones of Dubai’s energy sector and will serve as a guide for all stakeholders working within the sector, with particular focus on green initiatives.
“With the effects of climate change rapidly becoming apparent all over the world, it is crucial that individuals and companies do the best they can to minimise the impact. For us, this means the development and adoption of sustainable energy practices. Empower’s research and development of innovative district cooling technologies is something that will really help us adapt to the changing climate of the Middle East,” said Ahmad bin Shafar, CEO, Empower.
“Empower is proud to associate itself with international efforts supported by the United Nations to meet the energy needs of all nations and people, and we are honoured to work towards fulfilling Dubai’s vision of creating safe, accessible and sustainable energy for all,” bin Shafar added.
Through the support of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Emirate has played a crucial role in supporting the country’s energy sector so far. Since its creation, Empower has 42 district cooling plants and expects to deliver about 430,000 RT by the end of this year.
World Energy Day was launched in 2012 by the World Energy Forum, a non-profit organisation initiated by more than 89 member nations of the United Nations.
With energy at the centre of economic and social development worldwide, the main idea behind World Energy Day is to raise awareness of the many energy issues that impact today’s world including saving energy; increasing access to energy for all; energy security, policy and finance; and international cooperation and the environment.
