His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, visited Empower’s stand at the 16th edition of Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) 2014, and reviewed the company’s current projects and future plans.
Empower, the world’s largest district cooling services provider, currently has a capacity of nearly one million Refrigeration Tonnes (RT), according to its new Annual Statistics brochure.
“Since its inception in 2003, Empower has transformed itself into a world leader in district cooling services,” said Ahmad Bin Shafar, Chief Executive Officer, Empower. “Our capacity expansion is a testament to the vision of Dubai’s leadership in establishing the city as a global business and leisure hub, accelerating demand for lifestyle communities.
“Today, we meet the growing needs of the residents offering seamless service round-the-clock. Overcoming challenges, we achieved sustained growth, demonstrating the success of our long-term strategy.”
Following the acquisition of Palm Utilities and Palm District Cooling and the unveiling of several new projects in 2013, Empower’s capacity grew from 400,000 RT to nearly one million RT, more than double the capacity from 2012.
“As a public entity that serves over 40,000 corporate and individual customers, it is our responsibility to be transparent about our business,” concluded Bin Shafar. “Our Annual Statistics report establishes the evolution of Dubai’s utilities market as one that employs the most-efficient and sustainable district cooling technologies.”
Founded in 2003 following an Emiri decree, Empower is a joint venture between DEWA and Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone (TECOM) Investments.
