Empower, the largest district cooling service provider in the world, received the Gold Award in the “total Square footage committed to district cooling services beyond North America” category at the annual International District Energy Association (IDEA) Conference and Trade Show in Seattle.
Additionally, Empower was selected as the winner of the bronze award for “total number of buildings committed to district energy beyond North America” category for the ninth time at the prestigious event. Empower won both the awards through competitive nominations from around the world.
Ahmad Bin Shafar, chief executive of Empower, said: “This milestone reflects Empower’s successful strategy to maintain the perception of real estate developers regarding high standards of district cooling services. District cooling services have become environmentally and economically optimal solutions to be used in residential and commercial buildings, hotels and offices due to their significant efficiency in operational costs, maintenance and preservation of energy and environment protection.”
Robert P. Thornton, President and CEO of IDEA, said: “The accomplishments that Dubai and the UAE has achieved in the district cooling industry is considered as a continuation of the worldwide reputation that Dubai has built in recent years, and is a recognition of the previous milestones in different industries.”
He added: “With a corporation as Empower handling the massive district cooling responsibility in Dubai, the city will continue to create international benchmarks in this field by providing clean energy, which is crucial to environment conservation, and contribute proactively to the economic development process.”
“Empower is an active member in IDEA, becoming the largest district cooling company in the world within 10 years of its inception.”
IDEA is the ideal platform to showcase the district energy industry achievements, and hosting the next IDEA conference in Dubai in December this year will reinforce Empower’s success in the district energy industry, and highlight the achievements of Dubai in this sector.
This conference will attract 600 executives and industry specialists who will discuss the new industry trends in the district energy industry, which is increasingly growing in the region. It will also involve a high level commitment by Unites States to transfer knowledge and technology to the UAE in view of its focus on clean energy and its achievements in this field.
