Empower, the world’s largest district cooling services provider, has marked a milestone in its human resources development recording a 52% growth in workforce to over 600 employees in 2014. This was further underlined by the company achieving over 10% Emiratisation in line with its strategic growth goals and commitment to the nation’s development vision.
The significant growth in Empower’s workforce in 2014 also follows the acquisition of Palm Utilities, including its district cooling service entity Palm District Cooling (PDC). Considered as the largest acquisition in the world, the deal strengthened Empower’s professional team from 362 in 2013 to over 600.
H.E Ahmed Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower, said that the impressive growth in the human capital of the company, with particular emphasis on Emiratis, underlines its commitment to the 7-year National Agenda announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.
“In addition to training and nurturing our existing team of Emirati nationals to undertake a wide range of professional and technical roles across Empower, we are also focused on attracting new talents and building their competencies to evolve as future business leaders.
“Empower’s mandate to provide advanced district cooling solutions meets the infrastructure development plans of Dubai and the nation. Through our team of Emirati and international professionals, we are creating long-term value for our organisation and driving our expansion strategy,” added Bin Shafar.
Empower’s growth in workforce in 2014 was also supported by the increased pace of infrastructure development and new project launches in Dubai. “With 2014 witnessing the launch of several mega-developments by leading developers and the government investing in massive infrastructure projects, demand for district cooling has also gained robust growth. A stronger team of skilled professionals enables us to meet the growing demand and meet the demands of our partners,” added Bin Shafar.
He added: “Building a talent pool of highly skilled and experienced professionals in the district cooling industry is important to ensure world-class service delivering that add to the quality of life of the residents and thus enhance their happiness. Our strategy is therefore aligned with the Happiness Meter initiative announced by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to accelerate service delivery for the welfare of the public.”
