Empower Commences Serving District Cooling to Al Habtoor City

Empower, world’s largest district cooling service provider, today announced commencing its District Cooling Services to the Phase 1 of Al Habtoor City project, supplying 8500 Refrigeration Tonnes (RT) to hotels and hospitality facilities including St. Regis, W Dubai and Westin Dubai.

Located on a 10 million square feet plot on Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Habtoor City will be the largest integrated hotel complex in the Middle East when complete in 2016 comprising three hotels with a total of 1,675 rooms. This is part of a larger 17,500 RT district cooling project with the Al Habtoor Group.

Phase 1 of the project includes Empower’s 1.2 kilometer network of chilled water which connects Al Habtoor City with Empower’s existing Business Bay 2 plant, renowned for being the region’s first LEED certified district cooling plant.

Empower currently operates more than 1 Million RT, providing environmentally responsible district cooling services to large-scale real estate developments such as Jumeirah Group, Business Bay, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai International Financial Centre, Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Ibn Battuta Mall, Discovery Gardens, Dubai Healthcare City, Dubai World trade Centre Residences, Dubai Design District, among others.
