Empower to participate in IDEAs 97th Annual Conference and Trade Show

June 9th, 2006

Emirates Central Cooling Corporation (Empower) is sending a delegation to participate in the International District Energy Association’s (IDEA) 97th Annual Conference and Trade Show, to be held in Nashville, Tennessee on June 11, 2006.

Represented by CEO Ahmad Bin Shafar, Empower is participating in the event with an impressive track record of achievement and success, having already secured a number of mega-projects in Dubai in less than three years. The Empower delegation includes Samer Khoudeir, Director of Sales and Marketing; Ramadurai Ramesh, Director of Finance; Tariq Alyasi, Maintenance and Operations Manager; and, Moustapha Assayed, Senior Engineering Manager.

Attendees and participants at this year’s IDEA event - “District Energy: Today’s Solution, Tomorrow’s Advantage” – will represent a large number of district energy companies from countries the world over such as USA, Denmark and South Korea and in countries in the Middle East, providing Empower and others an international audience to discuss the latest in new technology, trends and achievements in the industry. Bin Shafar: “We are definitely looking forward to the IDEA event, which will provide us not only the opportunity to showcase Empower’s achievements to an international community but to gain insight on the latest developments in our industry on the global level.”

In the conference, Bin Shafar will be part of a panel discussion on the opportunities and challenges facing the district energy industry, as well as policies on new district cooling development systems. In addition, Bin Shafar will discuss the future of district cooling in the Middle East and Dubai’s contributions in district cooling.

“Given district cooling’s important role in supporting the real estate boom throughout Dubai, Empower is definitely playing a leading role - a role which will be highlighted in Nashville,” said Bin Shafar. “Empower is en route to becoming the largest district cooling services provider in the region by 2008, with our recent successes an indication of what we can expect in the near future.”

Empower was established on December 25, 2003, and is a joint venture between Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Dubai technology and Media Free Zone (TECOM), providing energy-efficient services that are reliable and environmentally-friendly in Dubai and the region.

IDEA is a non-profit trade association which annually hosts a conference and trade show to platform the latest technologies and equipment in the district energy industry. These annual conferences give attendees - ranging from energy professionals, consultancies, government agencies and system developers - the opportunity to learn more about district cooling from a global perspective and meet with a variety of vendors and suppliers.
