Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) and City of Arabia have entered an agreement for supply of 120,000 refrigeration tonnes of district cooling over the next 25 years.
As part of the contract, Empower will provide district cooling services to various developments in the City of Arabia.
The agreement was signed by Ilyas and Mustafa Galadari Group Chairman Ilyas Galadari, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Mustafa Galadari and Empower Chief Executive Officer Ahmed Bin Shafar at City of Arabia Corporate office.
The projects include the Mall of Arabia, the Restless Planet, a dinosaur theme park; Wadi Walk, a 11-kilometre waterway featuring 1,600 apartments; and Elite Towers, consisting of 34 high-rise developments for both commercial and residential use.
"In projects as large as City of Arabia, energy-efficiency plays a key role in enhancing economic profitability and ensuring a positive environmental impact," Ilyas Galadari said.
"Empower has the resources and capabilities to bring district cooling to mega projects of Dubai, whatever their requirements," he added.
"The City of Arabia project incorporates some unique concepts which are pioneering in nature and we are pleased to be providing this prestigious development with our exclusive district cooling services," Shafar said.
"Energy-efficient cooling is one of the key components of Dubai's mega projects, providing its ambitious developments with affordable high volume air-conditioning. We are proud to support Dubai's construction vision with our services," he added.
Empower has so far signed contracts with Dubai Health Care City, Dubai International Financial Centre and Business Bay to supply a total of 675,000 refrigerated tonnes over the next 25 years.
Empower, a member of Dubai Holding, was formed in December, 2003 as a joint venture between the Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone and the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA).
The Ilyas and Mustafa Galadari Group is a dynamic young company which was founded in 1998. The Group already owns a number of diversified companies in Dubai. The most important of these is the Ilyas and Mustafa Galadari Management Investment and Development Company, which is developing the key downtown area of Dubailand, the City of Arabia. This will be a new suburb of Dubai with around 40,000 inhabitants, which is situated on Emirates Road next to the Global Village.
It will include the largest retail project in the region, and one of the largest in the world, the Mall of Arabia; a major theme-park, the Restless Planet, which will, with great realism, demonstrate the birth of our planet and the rise and fall of the dinosaurs, and which is being developed in collaboration with the Natural History Museum of London; the Elite Towers, which consist of 34 high-rise buildings for mixed commercial and residential use; and the Wadi Walk, a series of low-rise apartments alongside a flowing waterway, served by small electric water-taxis.
Sunseeker Middle East has now joined the Ilyas and Mustafa Galadari Group, who have declared their intention of increasing the market in the Gulf and Levant for yachts across the whole Sunseeker range, from 4.21 metres to 14.45 metres in length.
