Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation PJSC (Empower), the world’s largest district cooling services provider, announced its sponsorship and participation in the Latin America District Energy Conference (LATAM2023), which will be held in Cartagena, Colombia, from September 27 to 29 under the slogan ‘Sustainable Solutions for Latin America and the Caribbean’. The first of its kind in Latin America, the LATAM Conference 2023 will have the participation of delegations from government and private sectors, experts and consultants from various countries worldwide.
The conference is organized by the Ministry of Mines and Energy, and the Ministry of Environment and Territorial Development of Colombia, with the support of various international organizations and agencies including the United Nations Organization for Industrial Development (UNIDO), the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), the International District Energy Association (IDEA), Colombian Association of Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (ACAIRE) and the Swiss embassy in Colombia.
The event aims to pave the way for achieving sustainable development in Latin America and the Caribbean. Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower and a Special Advisor to the UNEP on District Cooling will take part in the panel discussion entitled ‘Global Overview of District Energy’ on the opening day of the conference. Bin Shafar will also address the attendees on the second by presenting the successful journey of Dubai in implementing sustainable District Cooling solutions that contribute to combating climate change. The Conference will also host workshops and panel discussions on various topics on District Energy and shed light on the experiences of different countries in deploying District Energy systems.
