Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation PJSC (Empower), the world's largest district cooling services provider, won two gold awards at the International District Energy Association (IDEA) Annual Conference 2023, the largest event of its kind in the world, which was held in Chicago, USA, from 5 to 8 June, under the slogan ‘Empowering the Next Generation’ attended by delegations from more than 30 countries and hundreds of experts and specialists in the district cooling industry from all over the world.
Empower's merited winning of the two gold awards in the categories ‘Total Number of Buildings Committed’ & 'Total Building Area Committed' in the IDEA 2023 is the ninth of its kind as the company has won the same awards in the years 2005, 2007, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022, in addition to other awards that Empower has received from IDEA 18 times in different categories. Moreover, Empower has been honored with various awards in recognition of the company’s amazing achievements and practical innovations in developing the district cooling industry in the world, raising the standards of the sector and Empower is now the largest district cooling services provider in the world.
On this occasion, Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower, said: "Empower’s winning of the two gold awards represents a renewed international recognition of the company’s efforts to promote the District Cooling concept worldwide, and also a testimonial for United Arab Emirates, particularly Dubai from the key players of global district cooling industry for its prudent vision of early investment in the district cooling sector, which placed the emirate at the forefront of global cities."
He further explained that Empower's efforts to transform the district cooling sector worldwide, and its pioneering and pivotal role in creating the highest practices in this vital industry, whether in terms of energy and cost-saving or protecting resources and the environment, are well appreciated by the industry. "The winning also honors our continuous efforts in spreading the culture of adopting district cooling solutions, and appreciates our unremitting endeavors and the constant quest to employ the techniques of the forth revolution in production, operation, distribution and customer service processes, in a way that enhances the district cooling sector worldwide."
The CEO stressed that the Empower will continue developing its district cooling systems to a level that surpasses international standards, in order to provide high-quality services in response to the large and increasing demand for district cooling from a variety of projects in different fields, in line with the strategic direction of the Emirate of Dubai. "The IDEA Conference 2023 and its agenda, including the current and future trends of the energy sector and its technologies, contribute to strengthening international efforts to shape a more flexible and effective future with less carbon emissions."
