The Jumeirah Beach Hills district cooling plant, being constructed by Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation PJSC (Empower), the world's largest district cooling services provider, drew significant attention from participants and visitors of WETEX 2023, which was kicked off at the Dubai World Trade and Exhibition Center under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and with the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE). Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, unveiled a model of the new Jumeirah Beach Hills district cooling plant at Empower stand during his opening of the exhibition.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid and His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority were briefed by Ahmad bin Shafar, CEO of Empower, on the most prominent achievements of Empower, the international awards it received, the most important projects that has been completed recently as well as the projects under implementation, and how the company has leveraged innovative technologies to improve the quality of district cooling services. The CEO of Empower also highlighted Empower’s aspirations and plans for 2024, which are focused on achieving the highest levels of sustainability with the aim of contributing to reducing carbon emissions.

Bin Shafar indicated that the construction of the Jumeirah Beach Hills plant is progressing as scheduled in accordance with the highest international standards, and is set to enter the service by the third quarter of 2024, with a total cooling capacity of 48,000 refrigeration tons. The plant aims to serve residents and tourists of a series of iconic projects in the Jumeirah area, most notably the Burj Al Arab, Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Madinat Jumeirah Living, Madinat Jumeirah, Al Naseem Jumeirah Hotel, Marsa Al Arab, the new and prominent architectural landmark in Dubai, and others.
