Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation PJSC (Empower), the world's largest district cooling services provider, will join the celebration of World Refrigeration Day (WRD), which takes place on June 26 every year, and is held this year under the slogan “Next Generation Cooling: The Future is in our hands”. Empower's celebration of WRD 2023 features a series of events that focus on raising awareness among the public and educating them on the significant role of the refrigeration and air conditioning industry in modern life and society's welfare.
“District Cooling is an essential and indispensable component for modern life. It enables people to live and work comfortably, saves lives, and empowers people to be more productive. The need for cooling is ubiquitous, and although it goes unnoticed often, it touches life wonderfully, so cooling matters to us all. And in a rapidly warming world, cooling is particularly vital to human health and prosperity,” said Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower.
Bin Shafar explained that the humanity’s future depends on advanced cooling technologies that will help us to be more resilient to environmental conditions, and contribute at the same time to protecting the environment and meeting the requirements of sustainability. “Industry leaders are required to ensure that we use and maintain cooling sustainably and responsibly without wasting resources or exposing public health and the environment to the risks of greenhouse gas emissions,” he added.
